What Makes us 'Nice'?
We’ve designed some guidelines for staying off the naughty list:
So what's inside?
Nothing Bad. Nothing Boring. Most Importantly, Nothing Better.
All of our ingredients are gladiators - each one fought its way onto our label, beating out its counterparts in proving its positive impact on the body…or it didn’t make the cut!
TODO: Section with check boxes - Seeds and beans - hard to get minerals - nice fiber
Trust your gut.
We won’t make you gassy…OR bloated…here’s why:
Nice Crispeas has an ideal 3:1 ratio of soluble to insoluble fiber.
Soluble fiber feeds your good gut bacteria, slows digestion time & the absorption of sugar to prevent glucose spikes.
(because it thickens your #2’s, too much of it can make you feel bloated)
Insoluble fiber softens your #2’s with water.
(If you ever eat something & get gassy, that likely means you went overboard on insoluble fiber).
FAQs
Plants are superfoods, but protect their valuable nutrients from the environment with lectins - proteins located in their outer shells that bind to carbohydrates & resist being broken down in the gut - which can cause gastrointestinal sensitivities.
But never fear! Our heated extrusion (aka puffing process) safely eliminates the presence of lectins & phytic acid with heat & moisture, to enable maximum mineral absorption
Filler foods are like ‘fluff’ you add to an essay in order to hit your word count minimum. They’re nothing burgers.
Because they’re not serving you any vitamins or minerals to absorb for fuel, your body has to work extra hard to break them down (they end up going in and out, like corn!). Instead of working for you, they lazily sit in your stomach & tire you out!
Filler foods are simple carbs & super starchy - highly-processed with most of their necessary nutrients removed. (think wheat, oats, brown rice, syrups, artificial sweeteners, agave, molasses, honey & even fruit juice concentrates)
We opt for nutrient-dense ingredients high in macro (& micro) nutrients high in vitamins and minerals.
Our family of superfoods are naturally easy on the environment!
Seeds & beans are nitrogen-fixing crops, meaning they can convert nitrogen in the air into a plant-available nutrient. They can reduce the need for nitrogen fertilizers, ultimately improving the environmental sustainability of annual cropping systems.
Our core ingredients are organic, regenerative & meet the highest standards in the world for soil health, animal welfare & farmworker fairness.
Healthy for you, and the planet.
We’re vegan… by accident. For what it’s worth , most agree we’re not designed to be ravenous meat eaters. We just don’t have the teeth for it, or the stomachs needed to digest it!
The purest source of protein sprouts out of the ground. If a nutrient is not available from a plant, the human body shouldn’t need it.
Every essential vitamin and mineral you can get from an animal you can get from a plant.
But seriously - whatever you believe,
vegan really just means something for everyone 🌈
Because of mass-farming practices, grains (wheat, oats, barley, sorghum, quinoa, corn - the list goes on) are some of the most heavily contaminated crops by herbicides & cancer-linked chemicals like glyphosate.
Glyphosate is used as a pre-harvest drying agent. Some plants have been genetically engineered to be resistant to these chemicals. Even chickpeas have been found to have extremely high levels.
We believe there are cleaner ways to get our carbs. Seeds & beans are more naturally cultivated & protected by their shells from absorbing these harmful environmental residues.
SIDEBAR: Due to its disruption of the balance of gut microbes, studies are finding glyphosate to be a contributing factor in the increase in gluten intolerance & celiac disease!
We're all about maximizing nutrition and taste.
Rice’s super high toxicity levels (arsenic & heavy metals) is reason enough to be #1 on our naughty list.
It’s a mass-produced, cheap staple crop found in more than 60% of the world’s food supply & heavy rice-consuming countries suffer from malnutrition!
Some other reasons we don’t love rice:
It carries a high glycemic index ranging from 55-65 → causing major blood sugar spikes.
It’s low in nutritional value - high calories & carbs, while VERY LOW in protein.
Rice is an
acid-forming food - meaning it prompts your body to pull minerals from your bones to maintain its pH.
It’s full of simple sugars & high in insoluble fiber (the type of fiber that flies through your stomach undigested), making it harsh on your digestive tract & a driver of IBS.
In a world with so many better options, we say - the best way to be nice (to your body), is to ditch rice.
